SLOW ECONOMY=BUSY REFINISHING HERE'S WHY?

Photo_Dining_Set

Everybody either owns one of these or knows someone that does...right? Well guess what happens when things slow down a bit?  People visit their local furniture store or notice what is being advertised in their home furnishings magazines.  Wanna know what's the latest furniture fashion?  Think black..the color black...glossy black..matt black..or semi-gloss black. Black chairs and black table legs and table band with natural wood finish top.

Don't forget the distressed look black...that is a prime coat of ruddy brown and then black over that wiped away to show ruddy brown underneath.  Confused don't be! Here's the best part...Cedarberry refinishers can do this and you can be the first on your block with the newest furniture fashion.

The best kept secret is that underneath it all is your old furniture.  You save big bucks! Just bring tear out the page in the magazine and email it to us. (Cedarberry1@United.net) and we will make your old furniture all new again.

Beware of Furniture "Made in China"

Things_that_happen_when_you_are_out
Be very wary of any furniture made in China!  Even professional American furniture makers can be fooled.  Nevertheless, upon closer examination it is very difficult to find any real wood underneath what appears to be a fantastic furniture finish.  How can this be you say? Well for starters the Chinese have perfected an incredible method of "molding" what looks like wood, but is really particles suspended in glue and then cut into uniform sizes.

As if that isn't shocking enough the really incredible deception comes next and that is is the final finish.  Here is where the Chinese perform miracles using a razor thin combination plastic/paper covering with a stamped on grain pattern.  Next they have final finishers and/or artists apply really great stains and glazes to fool most furniture buyers.

This Chinese deception is really uncovered quick when the furniture needs a repair or professional touch up. A scratch or tear is virturally impossible to repair. And worst case senario is that for sure this Chinese furniture cannot be stripped at all.  We have customers who have paid $4,000 or more for a dining room set only to find out there is no wood to be found in the table or chairs.

Beware Some Antiques Make Their Move Behind Your Back

101805_be_aware_things_can_be_happening_

Antique chairs surprise you every time you begin to evaluate their appraised value. Suddenly things change right in the middle of one's evaluation. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst.  If you have ever lost the ball to a claw/ball chair leg you know what we mean.  It is very difficult to find a replacement. Here at Cedarberry we do work a miracle every now and then and replace difficult parts as a routinue matter.  Call us or email us for a quick estimate.

CHAIR CANING FOR AMERICAN & EUROPEAN ANTIQUES

Caning_1

How many different kinds of caning are there and do you do all of them?  Yes, we can do almost all of the caning required for today's antiques and even modern day furniture. We even do the blind caningfrom Europe where the tiny holes do not go all the way through the chair. Caner has to use tiny pegs to hold the cane in the holes... very difficult and time consuming. For estimates email us for quick turnaround and reasonable costs.
